Many native residents remember when Daniels Road ended at the railroad tracks. By the early 1980's, Daniels Road connected with I-75 and the development boom began. The Eagle Ridge development, including the Eagle Ridge Golf Club, was conceived by Dick Kolb, Fred Quinn, Jr. and Bill Maddox in 1980. In those days, Daniels Road was a two-lane road passing through what was to become the Six Mile Cypress Slough Preserve. The developers worked closely with Lee County officials to ensure that the preserve area was kept intact.
In April 1982, the first advertisement in the Fort Myers News Press appeared on a regular basis inviting potential owners to purchase home sites for $18,500 and condos in the Eagle Ridge Condo neighborhood for $59,000.
In 1982, the Eagle Ridge Golf & Tennis Club opened for business and offered private memberships for golf AND tennis.
The construction of the first custom homes and the Eagle Ridge condos occurred in April 1984. In 1985, The Fairways were opened followed by The Pines beginning in 1986. The last home lot was developed in 2022.
